Ergonis Software has released PopChar X 3.0fc1 for Mac OS X, the final candidate of the soon to come PopChar 3. This is expected to be the last beta release of PopChar X 3.0. The final version will be available within the next few weeks.
"We are very pleased about the feeback we got from our beta testers during the past months. Thousands of customers world-wide contributed with their feedback to build a smart and stable version. PopChar(TM) 3 is a completely re-designed version of the widely used tool for inserting special characters into the text of any application. The innovative release, with its new Universal Binary support, surpasses the previous productivity standard of special character entry established by PopChar.
PopChar 3 includes over 25 new features. Among them are:
Universal Binary Support – PopChar has been completely rewritten to perform optimally on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Mac computers. The new version runs natively on PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs.
Quick Search for Special Characters – The PopChar user interface now contains a quick search area. Entering the name of a character in the quick search area temporarily filters out everything else from the character table. For example, to locate a specific arrow character, you can simply enter the word "arrow" in the quick search area, resulting in the display of only arrow characters in the character table. Then just click on the desired one to insert it.
More Flexible User Interface – The PopChar character table now appears in a window that "floats" above all other application windows and can be placed anywhere on the screen. The increased flexibility of the user interface makes PopChar even more easy to use.
Optimized Character Selection – The PopChar window now contains an area displaying the most recently used characters, enabling you to insertion the most often used characters faster.
Optimized Font Selection – The PopChar font menu now contains only your most recently used fonts, enabling you to find the most often used fonts faster. When you need a font that does not appear in the font menu, you can open PopChar’s new font drawer that lists all available fonts.

Beta Availability and Requirements:
Ergonis Software welcomes everyone to try the latest PopChar beta version, downloadable now from the Ergonis Software website. PopChar X 3.0 requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or newer; Mac OS X 10.4 is recommended. "Classic" Macintosh applications are no longer supported. Beta users are encouraged to provide feedback as soon as possible, as the full product release is imminent.
