What about a Mac version? I have five disks and cannot get the install to work. First it was failing on disk five, but then after several failed attempts disk one started failing too. Does anyone have a copy of the Mac version of the software that works?

PEP will give me ONE disk (they say of THREE) but the version I have had FIVE disks not three. And besides I know I now need at least two of those five.

And they seem really paranoid over there about copyright violations. While I can respect this, I AM an original purchaser of the product and have the now defunct disks to prove it. And Software Toolworks sold the rights to this software to JUMP software which then went out of business as well. So who the heck is going to sue anyone over a copyright issue?

If I had the email address of the programmers who wrote the software I'd write them. I'm sure they'd ship me a copy.

Failing ANY of those, does ANYONE know where I can obtain a copy of the Macintosh Version of the software? Complete and readable. I'm willing to pay for it. AGAIN! LOL!

Just a suggestion. This "miracle keyboard" is an old, real old, multiple hardware required system. Get a newer Yamaha keyboard. It aids the user in the same fashion but is more current. The reason you cannot get anywhere with getting new software is because it is obsolete.

Get a new board and stop wasting precious time. You'll thank yourself later.

brien,

It's not the keyboard. I have several of those. As well as a piano. What I"m looking for is the SOFTWARE because it was and still is a well designed, low cost teaching method.

I haven't been all that impressed with the small amount of software available. In fact, I've only found a few available and most of those aren't worth anything to a novice beginner who can't even read music yet.

Do you have any suggestions of software similar to, and as good as the MPTS was? It has to be good for kids as well as adults.

Thanks,
Darrell

I dunno. I mention Yamaha's boards because they have USB versions that have the "Yamaha Education Suite" aided by the led view. A teaching aid yes, but will not actually teach if left on it's own:)

Check these:

If you cannot locate anything of use there, lets see what else we can come up with.

Well I've looked through that stuff and for Mac. Nope. sorry. Nothing comes even remotely close to the MPTS software in ease of use, thoroughness, encouragement, etc.

There are a TON of tools for improving skills in a "specific" area but no total teaching system save for a very childesh few for only the barest of beginnings.

Software Toolworks (later Mindscape) I fear was too far ahead of their time. And while they made quite a bit of money off of the Miracle they sold the rights to it off to Jump, in favor of more "general purpose" edcuational software that wasn't quite so specialized and didn't require any hardware. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing comes to mind. And then Jump went out of business. It is a sad loss to the many "would be musicians" that this piece of work was thus "orphaned". And sadder still that now NO ONE that can be located has the rights to publish the software. Or is that desire?

And while admittedly the Miracle keyboard is a toy compared to even cheap keyboards of today, it was durable (many are still easily located and work fine still) had veloctiy sensitive, full sized keys (important to teaching certain skills), and was intentionally kept as low cost as it could be made and still be able to do the job of teaching it was designed for. Without the software though, it's not much of a keyboard. It was the software that made the "system" so good when coupled with the keyboard. Unfortunately floppy disks, (in use at the time) do not have the endurance of the hardware.

Rest assured that if I manage to get my hands on a "working" copy to replace my defunct copy, I'm going to back it up six ways from Sunday and will be very willing to share the weath. Call me a pirate (which I'm not ) if you wish for my willingness to share it, but I see no real alternative since no one associated with the product or with electronic music in general seems able to find any other way to correct this problem. The PEP forum is supportive but only in the most limited of ways due to their "concern" about "copyright violations". However, I don't see using the software as a violation since ownership of a Miracle Keyboard, in effect includes a license to use the software. When you bought the keyboard the software came with it. And it only worked with their keyboard, so it's not like you could use it easily with another keyboard without some hacking. And while I have other software that will drive the Miracle thru the midi ports just fine (TRAX, etc.) those aren't the "teaching" software the system was designed for. I'm sure there are working copies of it some where and I'm determined to find it. I have been able to find working PC versions and Nintendo versions. It's only the Mac Version I've been unable to locate. I think there may have been an Amiga version too, but while the Keyboards still work fine, I'm not sure there are many Amigas that still do.

To danwms:

My girlfriend dug out her old Miracle Keyboard the other day and was telling me how great the piano teaching was. I'm trying to get it set up at the moment. Thanks for the cable pinouts - most useful.

Would it be possible to email me the software to jonathan@tech.co.je

Would you be able to tell me what Microsoft operating system it will run on.

Many thanks

First post here - greetings to all.

I bought a Miracle in 1993 and found it excellent teaching software.
My version is for a Mac but I no longer live in a Mac world, so I will be connecting it to a PC via MIDI cable thanks to the info provided here and at the PEP website.

To danwms: I would love the pc software please. Email to rowena101@gmail.com.

To Darrell: I have the Mac software if you are still looking for it, and would be happy to share. If you email me we can discuss it outside the forum.

Can someone tell me if you can use the MIDI cable instead of the serial cable to interact with the Miracle Software?

Trying to set up Miracle Software (for Windows) on XP.

Thanks.
